Bridgerton star Simone Ashley has heaped on the praise for her on-screen lover and co-star Jonathan Bailey.
Season two captivated viewers with the love story of Ashley’s character Kate Sharma and Bailey’s Anthony Bridgerton.
Now Ashley has gushed over the “wonderful” leading man and their “great chemistry”.
She told This Morning of Bailey: “He is such a wonderful person, wonderful friend - We have a great chemistry together.”
Recalling her audition, the former Sex Education star described it as a “whirlwind”.
She said: “It was all a whirlwind; it happened In two weeks. I sent in some self-tapes the first week and by the second I was meeting with Jonny for a chemistry test.”
Ashley confirmed she will be back for season three of the hit Netflix series and she said she’s “really excited” for what’s ahead.
Based on the eight books by Julia Quinn, the streaming giant recently confirmed they have renewed the Regency era drama for a third and fourth season.
The actress told hosts Josie Gibson and Vernon Kay that fans could expect to see a lot more of the popular pairing in the new series.
She said: “She’s the head of the household now. The viscountess, married to Anthony, and it’s a year later at this point, so I’m really excited.”
Speaking about the pressure of starring in such a high-profile show and the glare of the spotlight increasing, she said she is “trying to live in the moment of it all”.
