Bridgerton filming locations within an hour of Bristol

The eagerly anticipated second season of Bridgerton has arrived on Netflix today (March 25), much to the excitement of millions of fans who will be indulging in a second dose of the racy historical drama. When the first season aired in December 2020, 82 million Netflix accounts reportedly tuned in within the first four weeks of the drama going live.

Bridgerton was quickly praised by fans and critics across the world for its diverse cast and classical twist on modern day pop culture. Narrated by Julie Andrews and directed by Grey's Anatomy's Julie Anne Robinson, the scandalous and sensual period drama developed a huge fanbase instantly.

With the second season finally here, fans will be making their way through the highly awaited instalment, which will follow Anthony Bridgerton as he searches for a wife of his own. Although Bridgerton is set in Regency London, much of the series was filmed beyond the M25, including in Bristol and Bath.

If you are interesting in living out your fantasy of being part of the sultry period drama, then look no further. Here are the filming locations for Bridgerton within an hour of Bristol.

Leigh Court

According to the RadioTimes, one of the key filming locations used for the iconic ballroom scenes is Leigh Court in Bristol. A prestigious wedding and events venue in the Abbots Leigh area, Leigh Court provided the perfect backdrop for the Princes Ballroom, the Ingenue Ballroom and the Crawford Ballroom.

The streets of Bath were incredibly popular with the production crew behind Bridgerton. Filming for the drama took place across the following locations in the city.

Royal Crescent

Perhaps Bath's most impressive street (and there are lots of them), Royal Crescent is one of the city's most iconic landmarks. Standing proudly over a green park, Royal Crescent featured in many of season one's scene-setting shots.

The row of 30 terraced houses set the backdrop for a horseback duel during the fourth episode, whilst errand-boys can be seen delivering Lady Whistledown's scandal sheets. Number One, Royal Cresent lended itself to Bridgerton as the Featheringtons' London home.

Situated at the right-hand end of Royal Crescent, Number One's exterior and entrance hall were jazzed up to suit the aesthetic of the family. A CGI balcony was added and the front door was painted a dark blue, and the interior was decorated as it would have been in the late 18th century.

Abbey Square

A popular place for shopping trips and idle strolling, Abbey Square is situated in the heart of Bath, not too far from the Abbey itself. The quaint square served as an important set for several Bridgerton scenes, with the addition of market stalls.

Bridgerton characters often frequent Modiste dress shop whenever they need some new clothes. During filming, the production crew used the interior of The Abbey Deli, as it is in real life, rather than just making use of only the shopfront.

Trim Street

Down enchanting Trim Street, Bridgerton fans can spot the curved windows of Gunter's Tea Shop. The charming tea shop is where Simon and Daphne meet, and the suggestive spoon-licking incident happens, before the pair end their friendship later on in the episode, by the grey door next to the shop.

In real life, this Trim Street establishment is not a tea shop but a hair salon, called 12 Trim Street. Meanwhile, the women's clothing store next door serves a similar function in Bridgerton as it does in reality, as the ladies on the show enjoy perusing the window display of the Hat Emporium.

Beauford Square

Adjacent to Bath's historic Theatre Royal is Beauford Square. During the first series of Bridgerton, a number of horse and carriage rides snake through the Square, and characters often chat to each other as they stroll through it.

One of the scenes filmed at Beauford Square is the one where Penelope and Eloise discuss pregnancy in the second episode. There is also a scene in the first season where, following a wedding, a carriage ride passes through.

Holburne Museum

Often frequented by art lovers as Bath's first public art gallery, the Holburne Museum serves an entirely different purpose in Bridgerton as the exterior of Lady Danbury's home. Early on in the first series, Lady Danbury, played by Clifton actress Adjoa Andoh, welcomes Simon back to the capital, and hosts an extravagant ball - scenes during which you can see the house.

Assembly Rooms

The Assembly Rooms were built back in the 1770s, but, unfortunately, had to be rebuilt after being bombed in World War II. They are the filming location for Lady Danbury's ball in the first episode of the series one, which is when Simon and Daphne meet for the first time.

Bath Street

A relatively short street in the middle of Bath's shopping centre, Bath Street sets the backdrop for Simon's horseback arrival in town. In the scene, Simon can be seen coming from the direction of the historic Roman Baths, and riding past where Bath's branch of Primark is.

At the other end of Bath Street is Cross Bath, one of Bath's iconic baths. The low curved building can be seen in the background of many Bridgerton scenes.

Guildhall

Some of the first series' ballroom scenes were filmed at Bath's Guildhall. The building, which was built back in 1778, is used as the setting for the Rambury ball in the second episode.
