Brian McFadden says singing daughter Molly gets talent from him in dig to ex Kerry Katona

Brian McFadden claimed his daughter Molly gets her singing voice from him, not her mother Kerry Katona - as he beamed with pride over her musical talents.

The former Westlife singer shares two daughters, 21-year-old Molly and Lilly Sue, 19, with the ex Atomic Kitten singer.

And as his eldest looks set to follow in their footsteps in music, the Dubliner said he is taking full credit.

He told Irish Daily Mirror: “She’s a great singer. She doesn’t get it from her mother, I’ll tell ya that much.” he joked.

“I was only saying to someone the other day, Molly is very like me and Lilly is very like Kerry.

“They are very similar characters. Lilly and Kerry do loads of things like presenting and acting and TV and all these kind of things."

“But Molly is very like me, she started in musical theatre. She loves singing and songwriting.

“So you can kind of see which child got what from who.”

The 21-year-old, who is celebrating her milestone birthday today, just graduated from the Lir Academy in Trinity College Dublin, and often shows off her performer genes on social media, including TikTok, where she has amassed over 155,000 followers.

Beaming with pride as he credited her recent accolade, Brian said: “I never thought anyone from our family would go to Trinity College so I am very proud.”

He added, laughing: “It’s kind of weird. She starts her three year course in Trinity in September. So it is very Irish that you graduate and then you go to school, but I am very proud of her.

“She has another three years to go there.”

The Boyzlife singer went on to gush over his first born today as she celebrates her birthday, with a tribute on social media alongside pictures of her throughout her life.

He wrote: “21 years ago today my beautiful daughter Molly was born. It was so exciting becoming a dad.

“I’m so very very proud of the beautiful, talented and brilliant woman she has grown up to be. I love you baby and happy birthday xxxx”.

Mum Kerry also penned a happy birthday tribute online, and wrote:

“Noooooo!!! Nooooo way is my baby girl Molly 21 today!!!! WHAAAT!!

“Oh my goodness.. baby girl I honestly cannot express in words how bloody proud I am of you, you are one hell of a girl or should I say woman!

“My first born look at you darling you’re so beautiful so kind, so loving with a wicked sense of humour and not forgetting how bloody talented you are baby!

“You have the world at your feet baby girl… go out there and show them who’s boss!

“Life won’t always be easy my baby girl but I am with you every step of the bloody way… my heart is busting with love and proudness! Happy 21st birthday baby girl… I love you all the world.

She went on to hint at birthday celebrations to take place this week in Dublin, where Molly is based, adding: “Omg can’t wait to see you later!!

Dublin here we come!”

Brian’s longtime pal and bandmate, Keith Duffy also chimed in on the birthday fun, adding: “Happy birthday Molly, See ya for party fun on Friday.”

A rep for Kerry said they have no comment to make.
