Former Westlife singer Brian McFadden has revealed that he hasn’t spoken to his ex-bandmates in ten years.
The star appeared on ITV’s This Morning to promote new music with Boyzone’s Keith Duffy as part of their band, Boyzlife, just months after releasing their first single, The One, in October 2021.
Westlife was formed in 1998, but Brian decided to quit the group in 2004, just months before his marriage to Kerry Katona ended.
He explained at the time that he wanted to spend more time with Kerry and their two daughters Molly and Lily but months later he moved to Australia to launch a solo career and began dating Delta Goodrem.
But on Tuesday, Brian revealed on the famous sofa that he hasn’t talked to any of his old band mates ten years on.
When asked by host Alison Hammond if Westlife support Boyzlife, Brian said: “Don’t know. I haven’t spoken to them in ten years.
“(I left) in 2004. I’ve actually been in Boyzlife longer, which is weird.”
He took a swipe earlier in the interview with Dermot O’Leary and Hammond after they introduced the pair with the wrong song.
Alison said: "Westlife and Boyzone join forces. Keith Duffy and Brian McFadden. They join us now! Now you just said, earlier on we played a tune Brian?"
Brian added: "You played You Raise Me Up and it's the only one I wasn't in. I'd actually left the band at that point."
Keith chirped: "You played the one song that is literally nothing to do with either of us."
Dermot cringed as he said: "That's literally so awkward, I'm so sorry."
However, it seemed they found the funny side as Brian joked: "21 number ones and you pick the one I'm not a part of," before erupting into laughter.
As Keith joked that they had "great research", they soon moved on as they discussed their upcoming plans of Boyzlife.
Meanwhile, Keith said he would never entertain the idea of a supergroup between Boyzone and Westlife.
“We’re grand the way we are – two is fine, you know. When there’s five it’s difficult, there’s too many personalities but it is only Brian and I and we agree on everything.”
Keith said Boyzone support Boyzlife, saying: “Absolutely, we were on with Ronan this morning with Magic and he played the song.”
Boyzlife are gearing up to hit the stage once again as part of their impressive career which followed the back of both of their stints in their respective groups, Westlife and Boyzone.
