BrewDog to close dozens of bars following US takeover

  • BrewDog will close 38 bars, leading to 484 job losses, despite a rescue deal by US firm Tilray Brands.
  • Tilray Brands acquired the BrewDog brand, intellectual property, UK brewing operation, and 11 pub venues for £33 million.
  • The acquisition will result in the closure of most of BrewDog’s bars, but 18 franchise bars will continue to operate.
  • The deal preserves 733 jobs in the UK, with employees transferring to Tilray.
  • Tilray will take control of BrewDog facilities including its brewery in Ellon, Aberdeenshire, and a distribution centre in Motherwell, Lanarkshire.
