Brentford star Ivan Toney charged by FA for alleged further 30 breaches of betting rules

The FA have charged Brentford striker Ivan Toney with an alleged further 30 betting charges adding to the 232 charges he was given in November.

Toney has until January 4 to provide a response to the latest charges relating to multiple breaches which were committed between March 14, 2017 and February 18, 2019. He played for Scunthorpe, Wigan, and Peterborough during that time.

A full FA statement from an FA spokesperson read: "Ivan Toney has been charged with misconduct in relation to alleged breaches of the FA's betting rules.

"In addition to the previous charge, it is alleged that the Brentford FC forward breached FA rule E8 a further 30 times between 14 March 2017 and 18 February 2019. Ivan Toney has until Wednesday 4 January to provide a response."

Brentford have released a statement which states: "The FA have informed Brentford FC that Ivan Toney has been charged in relation to additional alleged breaches of their betting rules.

"Our private discussions with Ivan and his legal representatives on this matter continue. Ivan has until Wednesday 4 January 2023 to provide a response. We will make no further comment at this stage."

The breaches are in relation to rule E8 which states: "A Participant shall not bet, either directly or indirectly, or instruct, permit, cause or enable any person to bet on -

"The result, progress, conduct or any other aspect of, or occurrence in or in connection with, a football match or competition OR;

"Any other matter concerning or related to football anywhere in the world, including, for example and without limitation, the transfer of players, employment of managers, team selection or disciplinary matters."

Toney, 26, stated earlier this month, after the allegations were first reported, that he was "assisting the Football Association with their enquiries".
