Brentford are set to rival Leeds United for the signing of Red Bull Salzburg defender Rasmus Kristensen this summer. That is according to the Sun, who claim that the Bees are preparing an offer of £10 million and are hoping to use Thomas Frank’s Danish connections in order to prise him to the capital.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Leeds have an opening bid ready for Kristensen, with negotiations ongoing over becoming the second RB Salzburg player to make a summer switch to Elland Road. He would follow in the footsteps of midfielder Brenden Aaronson, whose £25 million move was confirmed last week.
Kristensen is now thought to be Leeds’ main target at right back, with Calvin Ramsay expected to favour a move to Liverpool from Aberdeen. There have also been links to Barcelona’s Sergino Dest, but reports from the Spanish media claim that the Whites have no intention of accepting a player swap in the deal that involves Raphinha’s potential move to the Camp Nou.

But Leeds do not have a clear path to the 24-year-old’s signature, with Brentford looking to strengthen both wing-backs this summer and Kristensen being top of their list for the right hand side. Borussia Dortmund were also thought to be keen, though the Sun claim that their interest has eased in recent weeks after a busy start to the window.
Kristensen was one of Salzburg’s stand-out players last season, as they again won the domestic double, while also qualifying for the last-16 of the Champions League for the first time in their history. The four-time capped Denmark international scored 10 goals and provided eight assists in all competitions over the course of the campaign.
