But it's English Premier League outfit Brentford who have made the first move.

Mike McGrath of The Telegraph reports that other top flight clubs in England are keen on the 19-year-old but are yet to make contact with Bologna.

The Italian club reportedly value the player at around €25m which will come as great news to Hearts.

Robbie Neilson's men are set for a financial windfall from any deal after inserting a sell-on clause in the agreement that took him to Italy from Tynecastle back in 2020.

Hickey's rise from Hearts to Bologna and form in Serie A has propelled him onto the international stage with Steve Clarke handing him four caps to date.

He landed his first start in the World Cup play-off defeat to Ukraine and was used as a late sub last time out in the comfortable 2-0 win over Armenia.
