Brentford complete permanent Kevin Schade signing for club-record fee

Brentford have signed striker Kevin Schade permanently for a club-record fee.

The striker joins in a deal worth around £20million after spending the second half of the season on loan from Freiburg.

Schade, who has signed a five-year deal, made 19 appearances in all competitions and registered one assist.

Brentford’s director of football Phil Giles said: “When Kevin joined us on loan in January, we agreed with Freiburg that the move would become permanent this summer if certain conditions were met, which included Brentford remaining a Premier League team for next season.

“We have all been pleased with Kevin’s contribution so far, both on the pitch and his professionalism off it, so to have him with us now until 2028 is fantastic for the club.

“We all hope both Kevin and Brentford can make further progress from here and look forward to the challenge.”

The twice-capped Germany international will drop back down to the Under-21s this summer to compete at the European Championships in Romania and Georgia.

Brentford’s previous club-record signing was versatile attacker Keane Lewis-Potter, who signed from Hull City for £16m in July 2022.
