Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers admits it was “difficult to take” after his latest return to Liverpool ended in another defeat.
Two own goals from Wout Faes in seven minutes before half-time wiped out an early opener by Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to earn the Reds a 2-1 home Premier League win on Friday evening.
Rodgers, who spent more than three years as Liverpool boss before being replaced by Jurgen Klopp in October 2015, has lost on all five subsequent visits to Anfield in the opposition dugout.

And of his latest reverse, he said: “It feels like one that got away. The game worked out perfectly for us, how we wanted to start the game and we scored a really good goal and looked dynamic.
“But the seven minutes you can’t plan for that, especially the first own goal. It was difficult to take.
“The second half we kept pushing into some really good areas but the only criticism is the final pass, the lack of quality in the final third especially with James (Maddison) not playing.
“We started and finished strong against some top players, and it’s disappointing for my players that we didn’t get more from the game.”
The first own goal came when Faes ignored a shout from former Liverpool goalkeeper Danny Ward to leave a teasing Trent Alexander-Arnold cross from the right.
And Rodgers said: “It’s a decision you have to make as a defender during the game. There’s no real trouble, nobody is coming in, its coming into Danny’s hands and as a defender you make those decisions. If he didn’t slice it and had hit it flush, we wouldn’t even be talking about it.
“In the short time he’s been with us he has been brilliant. It was freakish the goal and he was unfortunate with the second one. He’s a real strong character, tonight was unfortunate for him. He responded great in the second half.”
