Brendan Rodgers Leicester latest as 'issue' emerges amid showdown boardroom talks

Leicester City could reportedly face an issue putting together a compensation package to pay off under-fire Brendan Rodgers.

The Telegraph state the Irishman is under "serious scrutiny" and that the financial implications to part ways with the 49-year-old could play a part in their final decision. It's understood Leicester would need to pay the former Celtic boss around £10m, with two-and-a-half years remaining on his current £200,000 per-week deal. And Financial Fair Play regulations could be a factor amid any potential severance package.

Rodgers still has backers at the King Power Stadium, however, it's understood discussions are scheduled amid a rotten run of results for the Foxes boss. He has lost six of his first seven league games - conceding a galling 22 goals in the process. Rodgers offered no excuses in the wake of Saturday's thumping to Tottenham, as he admitted he would hold no grudges if Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha called time on his stay in the East Midlands.

Both Sean Dyche and Thomas Franks have been named as potential successors, however, the Brentford boss moved to distance himself after his side's convincing 3-0 defeat at the hands of Arsenal. “It’s a very simple answer,” he said. “I am here at Brentford, very happy. I am reading very little of these rumours.

“I have been told to be a little aware of it, if I get questions, and of course it is nice to be linked with it because it is something we have done here and done well. That is positive.”
