Brendan Rodgers gets Rangers SOS as furious caller makes plea for former Celtic boss - Hotline

Rangers got the win they needed after the Liverpool lashing but the fans are still not convinced by Gio van Bronkhorst and his side.

Gers are only two points off top spot but the heat is still on and there’s already some wild suggestions for managers to replace the Dutchman. How does a former CELTIC manager sound? Robert Livingston, Palm Beach, said: “A few failures shouldn't be at Ibrox next season including van Bronckhorst as the side struggled to beat a poor Motherwell. Bring in Graeme Souness for the short term then look at three possible replacements. Michael Beale at QPR, plus the possibility of bringing Gerrard back – also Rodgers at Leicester. He certainly has the title winning quality.”

Gary Stevenson, Newtonhill, said: “It's time for Rangers to make an official statement on what is going on at Ibrox. Europa League Final last season and serious money coming in. Now, a shambles all over the park. Kent and Morelos, sort it out. Kamara obviously doesn't want to be there. Yilmaz £5 million wasted. We are one defeat away from writing off our season and Napoli and Ajax cannot wait to play us. The only constant is the fans who continue to sell out Ibrox. We deserve better.”

Dr Robert S Pender said: “Disgusting performance. The captain needs to wake up, lost count the number of times his passes went to Motherwell. I’m glad I watched the Liverpool game to put my faith back in football.”

But Gordon Hendry, Ochiltree, said: “After the mid-week drubbing it was good to get back to winning ways at Motherwell.

Hopefully, some Rangers fans calling for GVB's head will have watched Liverpool put City's £900million squad to the sword on Sunday and engage in a bout of realism as to what our manager and players were up against, particularly at Anfield.”

Frank McFerran, Carrickfergus, said: “This is not the time for Gio to leave. Who else would take his place? Beale is going to Wolves, so forget about him. Given time Gio will prove himself.”

Meanwhile, Scott Gowers, Edinburgh, said: “According to Motherwell manager Steven Hammell, Leon King should have seen red. It’s just as well for him VAR wasn't in since the start of the season or several of his players may have been sent off. He’s entitled to his opinion but the terms boy who cried wolf and what's good for the goose is good for the gander certainly spring to mind.”

Celtic fans are in a much better mood on the back of their six goal hammering of Hibs at the weekend when James Forrest hit his ton for the club. Kenny Wilson, Moffat, said: “A far better performance from Celtic and showing how good our squad is with all the players coming in putting in good performance’s. Obviously Forrest with the hat trick was good but I thought Aaron Mooy was particularly impressive.”

It was a different story for the Easter Road men though and Andrew Lamb, Fraserburgh, said: “Following Hibs thrashing at Parkhead on Saturday, it's fair to assume that big Ange will see Ryan Porteous as the big wally he is, despite Tam McManus claiming the boy could earn himself a move to Celtic. Dream on.”
