Brendan Cole reveals some Strictly celebs are forced into show by pushy agents

Brendan Cole says certain Strictly Come Dancing stars are clearly forced onto the show by their pushy agents

The former professional dancer - who is competing on this year's series of Dancing on Ice - says it's apparent it is not always the contestant's decision to take part.

He teased that it's an annual nightmare for the pros over the types of celebs booked for the show, the Daily Star report.

Popular Brendan was one of the main professional dancers on Strictly for 15 years and during his time on the BBC show, he says there were stars who really wanted to learn to dance.

But there were also others who were forced into it by their reps - and some who signed up but didn’t actually want to do it all.

And he coached the likes of Sophie Ellis-Bextor, inset, Kelly Brook, Lulu, Jo Wood and Charlotte Hawkins.

Brendan won the first glitterball with newsreader Natasha Kaplinksy way back in 2004.

He left the show in 2018 but admits that during his time there, behind the scenes it became obvious which celebrities really wanted to learn to dance and which ones did not.

Brendan said: "To be honest, there were those who entered because they were really up for the challenge and wanted to dance, so were very good. Others were slightly more hard work, but great fun.

"Then there were those who had perhaps been pushed into the show by their agents and were initially a bit hesitant but were also great fun.

"And then there were other partners who were just not up for the whole thing. The latter takes a lot of time."

His exit left may stunned - and there have been called for the favourite to return since he said goodbye

Speaking on Lorraine at the time, Brendan addressed the shock departure: "This is actually quite hard to talk about. "Well, the BBC haven’t renewed my contract, we get contracted year upon year.

"They've just made an editorial decision to not have me back on the show. "I'm a little bit in shock at the moment, I'm quite emotional and a bit raw about it."
