After losing out on a UFC headliner, Brendan Allen has been booked against Bruno Silva.
Allen (21-5 MMA, 9-2 UFC) meets Silva (14-5-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) on June 24 at UFC on ABC 5 in Jacksonville, Fla. The main card will broadcast live on ABC and ESPN+. Both fighters confirmed the news on social media after an initial report from MMA Mania.
Winner of his past four in a row, Allen was scheduled to fight Jack Hermansson in a UFC Fight Night headliner on June 3, but Hermansson withdrew due to an undisclosed injury. The 27-year-old suggested Sean Strickland pull out of his July 1 main event against Abus Magomedov and rematch him, but Allen wound up drawing Silva instead.
Silva’s past eight wins have come by knockout. In his most recent outing at UFC Fight Night 222 in April, the Brazilian was able to snap a two-fight losing skid by stopping Brad Tavares in Round 1.
With the addition, the UFC Fight Night lineup for June 24 now includes:
- Josh Emmett vs. Ilia Topuria
- Maycee Barber vs. Amanda Ribas
- Brendan Allen vs. Bruno Silva
- Loik Radzhabov vs. Mateusz Rebecki
- Sedriques Dumas vs. Punahele Soriano
- Tabatha Ricci vs. Gillian Robertson
- David Onama vs. Gabriel Santos
