West Ham learn Europa League last-16 opponents with David Moyes' team heading to Spain

West Ham have been handed a tricky tie against Europa League masters Sevilla in the last-16 of the competition.

The Hammers will head to Spain for the first-leg at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium on Thursday, March 10 with the home tie coming the following week on Thursday, March 17.

West Ham were picked in the fifth tie of the round and will face the six times UEFA Cup/Europa League champions in the Hammers' first ever Europa League knockout tie.

Sevilla are a tough opposition for the Hammers with the Spanish outfit winning four of the last five Europa League tournaments they took part in.

West Ham will hope it is their first of two visits to the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium this season with Sevilla's home ground hosting the Europa League final on May 18.

Sevilla are the most successful team in UEFA Cup / Europa League history and with the prospect of playing the final in their home stadium, West ham will have to be at their best to beat the Spanish giants.

However, there is hope for the Hammers in Sevilla recent form and their Champions League struggles earlier this season.

Sevilla finished third in their group behind Lille and RB Salzburg picking up just six points from their six matches and only one win.

Julen Lopetegui's side then faced Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League play-off round and edged is on aggregate 3-2, despite a 1-0 loss on Thursday night in the Croatian capital. In contrast West Ham won 1-0 in Zagreb and then a much-changed Hammers lost 2-0 at home in the group stage dead rubber.

Sevilla are currently second in La Liga six points behind Real Madrid but have won just one of their past five league games.

Confirmation of the kick-off time in Spain is yet to be confirmed the the game set to start at either 5:45pm or 8pm UK time.
