A person has died after being hit by a train near Warrington.
The person was tragically struck on the main line running from Liverpool Lime Street to Warrington Central at around 9.15am this morning (Monday). Trains to Manchester from Liverpool also run on this line.
Officers are working to identify the person, a spokesperson for British Transport Police said. The death is not being treated as suspicious.

The line between Liverpool and Warrington is fully blocked this morning. Disruption is expected until lunchtime as emergency services respond to the incident.
Northern services between Manchester Oxford Road and Liverpool Lime Street are currently cancelled or delayed. TransPennine services between the two cities are also affected.
A BTP spokesperson said: "British Transport Police were called to the line near Warrington at 9.15am today (25 July) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Officers are working to identify the deceased and inform their next of kin. This incident is not being treated as suspicious."
