Midfielder Ryan Yates has put pen to paper on a new Nottingham Forest contract which will keep him at the club until 2025.
The 24-year-old has agreed terms on a new three-year deal, having been a key performer for Steve Cooper’s side this season.
Yates’ previous contract was due to expire in the summer of 2023, but talks took place in recent weeks about a new one.
His form had caught the eye of other clubs and the Reds were keen to get his future tied down.
The Nigel Doughty Academy graduate scored for the third successive game on Saturday, netting a fabulous long-range strike in Forest’s 4-0 win over Reading.
That took his tally so far this term to seven goals in 37 appearances, with Yates having been integral to the Reds’ rise up the Championship table.
Boss Cooper recently said of Yates: “I can’t speak highly enough of him. He’s just an absolute diamond of a lad. He’ll do anything for the football club and anything for the team.
“He’s one of the most selfless players I’ve ever worked with.
“I’m not surprised that he’s the one who got on the end of that ball, because he will do anything for this football club.
“I meant to say after the last game, but one of the highlights against Bristol City was when he came on and the crowd sang his name. I think we’re really starting to appreciate what he brings now, which is great.”
