Kathy Lamkin dead: Texas Chainsaw Massacre actress dies after 'short illness'

Kathy Lamkin, who appeared in Hollywood hits Texas Chainsaw Massacre and No Country For Old Men, has died aged 74.

The actress, who starred alongside Javier Bardem’s hitman Anton Chigurh in the 2007 Western hit, died after a short illness.

Her family told Deadline : "Kathy will be missed by her family and friends and left an impact on all she that encountered during her life on this Earth."

Kathy was born and raised in Texas and went on to join a travelling theatre company before making the transition from theatre to the big screen.

She appeared in a number of TV shows and films in the 90s - from Miller & Mueller to Fools Gold - but it was her chilling performance as The Tea Lady in the remake of The Texas Chainsaw massacre that saw her steal the spotlight.

Kathy went on to star in the prequel three years later after her impressive performance and later landed a role as No Country for Old Men‘s Desert Aire trailer park manager in 2007, which she landed a SAG Award for.

During her 24-year career, Kathy appeared in 46 film and 24 projects, of which also included The Heartbreak Kid, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, The Astronaut Farmer and In the Valley of Elah.

She also taught theatre arts at Houston's Codwell Elementary School.

Kathy is survived by her husband of 52 years, Stephen L. Lamkin, her daughter Kati, her son Greg and her grandchildren Benjamin and Morgan.
