Gareth Southgate has named his England squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League clashes against Italy and Germany.
Brentford striker Ivan Toney has been called up to the England squad for the first time after an impressive start to the Premier League season - his second in the top flight. West Ham United’s Jarrod Bowen and Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi have also retained their spots in the squad, having both been picked last time out.
There were calls last season for Toney to be handed an England call-up, but Roma’s Tammy Abraham was preferred to as a back-up to captain Harry Kane. However, Toney, who has never played for England at any age group, is set to be given a chance to impress Southgate over the course of the next two games.

England travel to Italy for their first Nations League game on September 23, before hosting Germany just three days later. Having failed to win any of their first four group games, the Three Lions currently sit bottom of Nations League A Group 3 and are at risk of relegation.
The selection is Southgate's last before the World Cup in November. England are favourites to top Group B in Qatar, though USA, Iran and Wales will try their best to prevent that from happening.
