Breaking down Palworld’s roadmap for future updates

Pocket Pair, the developer behind the wildly-successful new survival/creature capture game, Palworld, has released a roadmap that details what is planned for future updates.

Palworld is off to an incredible start, with the game selling eight million copies on Steam alone since it went into early access on Jan. 19. Of course, those numbers don’t include Xbox players, which is wild to think about.

While fans of the game are already having a blast with the content they have, Palworld does have future content updates coming down the road.

However, first things first: bug fixes are at the top of the list, as they should be.

Some of those fixes have already started rolling out, including a fix to counter cheaters, a loading screen bug and a visual bug for world date rollbacks.

But the road map also includes more fixes coming, including configuration improvements and an improvement to the pathing of Pals in the base, which can be an issue depending on the layout.

If you thought that was all fantastic news, just wait until you see some of the actual content updates coming after Palworld rightly prioritizes bug fixes, etc.

Here’s a look at each of those planned content updates.

PvP and Pal Arena (PvP for Pals)

Via Palworld

For our PvP players out there, Palworld plans on introducing two separate modes, one of which will be straight up Pal arena battles. The other will likely be either trainer versus trainer or trainer and Pal versus trainer and Pal.

Either way, having PvP will check yet another box for Palworld.

Raid Bosses (end-game content)

Via Palworld

This is our first glimpse into what end-game content will be. It isn’t clear how many players will be needed to complete raids, but this is an exciting feature we can’t wait for.

Steam-Xbox crossplay

Steam

As of right now, if you play Palworld on Xbox, you can only play with fellow Xbox gamers and those on Xbox PC Game Pass, as there is no crossplay with Steam.

Various Xbox feature improvements

Xbox

It isn’t clear exactly what this entails exactly, but one thing we can think of is the fact that Xbox doesn’t offer dedicated servers for up to 32 players like the Steam version does. Instead, Xbox players are limited to co-op servers with up to four players.

Server transfers and migration

Via Palworld

For those of you who don’t like the server you’re on or want to join up on another servers with friends, you’ll eventually be able to move your character over.

There is a method to do this for Steam players, but it involves moving files around to get it done. It’ll be awesome to have an official way to server transfer down the road, both for Steam and Xbox players.

Improvements to the building system

Via Palworld

The building system is already quite solid, but there are some things that could be added. The ability to pick up and move built objects would be nice, as would the ability to pick up and move an entire base.

But those are just ideas off the top of my head. Pocket Pair has not revealed what’s in store for building system improvements yet.

New islands, Pals, Bosses and Technologies

Via Palworld

Yes, yes, yes and yes.

One of the best things about this game is setting off with your Pals around the map and exploring. Having new islands with new Pals and bosses to check out would be a major addition.

The new technologies are also welcomed, although one has to wonder if that addition will be tied to a level cap increase, as leveling up is currently the way to unlock technologies.
