Cyclist killed in suspected hit and run at busy junction

A cyclist has died after being struck by a car on a busy junction in Bolton in a suspected hit and run.

Emergency services rushed to A673 Chorley New Road following the collision just before 5am yesterday morning (Thursday May 5). The incident happened at the junction with A58 Victoria Road.

The cyclist, a man in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. According to Greater Manchester Police (GMP) a grey VW Polo made off following the collision but it was later found and a 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving.
