A teenage boy is fighting for his life after he was reportedly stabbed outside the school gates this afternoon by a gang.
Horrified witnesses told of how they saw a boy being "pinned down and stabbed repeatedly".
West Yorkshire Police confirmed the boy, 15, was seriously injured after being attacked before he was rushed to the hospital where he is in critical condition.
One dad, 46, who has a son at the school, told YorkshireLive: "It was a scary moment when I heard there had been trouble and a teacher answered my 14-years-old son’s phone. I understand he may have witnessed some of what happened at about 3.15pm.
“I was asked by staff to come and collect him. I’ve heard that it all came out of nowhere. This pupil was grabbed, pinned to the floor and stabbed repeatedly.”
Another dad whose daughter is at the school said: "My daughter just started there and was getting on bus home. Lad in black hat and snood jumped out on a pupil and stabbed him and ran off.
"She saw the scuffle but didn't see the knife or blood. The bus had just pulled up as it happened so blocked some of the incident - she seems OK but still processing it I think. It's only her third week or so at this new school.
"The area is getting bad for this crime recently, something needs to be done, I don't know what but it can't be like this - feels like a crime drama."
Police raced to the scene shortly before 3pm along with ambulances and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and blocked off the roads nearby.
A spokesperson for the police force said: "At 2.54pm this afternoon police received a third-party report that a teenager had been seriously injured in an assault in Woodhouse Hill, Huddersfield.
"Emergency services attended and a 15-year-old boy was taken to hospital in a critical condition. A police cordon has been put in place as enquiries are underway to establish the circumstances."
