Amanda Holden reveals who she wants to replace Phillip Schofield on This Morning

Amanda Holden is backing Dermot O'Leary to replace Phillip Schofield on This Morning.

The Britain's Got Talent judge has revealed she thinks the former X Factor host and Alison Hammond have been doing a "great job" covering for Holly Willoughby on the ITV show amid all the drama.

Amanda, who previously feuded with Phillip, weighed in on the saga while presenting her breakfast radio show on Heart FM this morning.

The mum-of-two once enjoyed a stint on This Morning alongside Phil but her time on the famous blue sofa was short and sweet, thanks to Phil not being too pleased about sharing the screen with Amanda.

She has now weighed in on how should take over the long-serving presenter on the daytime show.

Speaking on her Heart Breakfast show, Amanda and co-host Jamie Theakston wished Dermot a happy birthday and tried to guess his age.

Amanda said: "I’m going to say, Dermot is 51?"

Jamie replied: "…51 is wrong."

She then tried again: "I’m going say he’s older, 54 [buzzer]… oh gosh, 48?"

Jamie responded: "No, he’s 50… do you think he’d be good to replace Schofe?"

Amanda quipped: "Oh, the big one wow!… Yes, I think him and Alison do a great job don’t they?"

Earlier in the week, she took to social media in an apparent swipe at Phillip Schofield.

The This Morning host announced on Saturday he had decided to step away from the programme following his ongoing fall-out with former best friend, Holly Willoughby.

Whilst Phil and Amanda previously fell out on the ITV daytime programme with reports suggesting he never wanted her to star alongside him.

Amanda has never shied away from sharing what happened between herself and Phillip and previously told Heart Radio listeners she once extended an olive branch to him – which he ignored.

Amanda took to her Instagram following Phil's news and posted a bicep curl emoji, which is often used to show support and strength to people.

Her post was soon flooded with comments, with former Coronation Street star Charlie Condou penning: "Exactly."

"I know what that's for," joked a second. A third commented: "No Holden back for sure, YES AMANDA!"

"Here's to strong women and men who try and move them on when they try and stand up to them. It’s been along time coming but thanks to karma," added another.

Amanda replaced Holly Willoughby when she was off on maternity but Phillip had reportedly decided Rochelle Humes was the perfect fit.

But Amanda had already secured the gig, leaving Phillip furious.

At the time, a source told The Sun on Sunday: "Phillip actively campaigned for Rochelle Humes to get the job despite Amanda being more experienced — and having been told privately she'd got the gig.

"She feels Phil unfairly used his powers of persuasion. She was told he’d chosen Rochelle because she was easier to “manage” on air – and understandably that incensed her."

Speaking in 2019, Amanda explained to her radio co-host Jamie: "I've moved on from it, Jamie, you need to move on from it.

"I did offer to meet him for a coffee months ago, he didn't reply to my text. What can I say?"
