Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is currently recovering in an intensive-care unit following surgery for an intracranial hemorrhage, as reported by the Sirio-Libanes hospital. The 79-year-old leader underwent the procedure after experiencing headaches believed to be linked to a fall at his home in October.

Lula, who had to travel from Brasilia to Sao Paulo for treatment, is said to be in stable condition and is being closely monitored in the ICU after the bleeding was successfully drained. The presidency of Brazil has not yet released any official statements regarding the situation.

Following the incident, Lula had to cancel his planned trip to Russia for a BRICS summit. The fall had left him with a visible cut on the back of his head, just above his neck. The hospital has announced that a press conference will be held at 9 a.m. local time to provide further details on the surgery and Lula's current status.
