CHANDIGARH: Haryana agriculture & farmers’ welfare and animal husbandry & dairying minister, JP Dalal said that Brazil-based Alta Genetics Laboratory has expressed its desire to procure quality Murrah germplasm through Haryana livestock development board so that they can prepare breeds of cattle with high milk production from Murrah germplasm. Presently, this laboratory is procuring germplasm from Italy.
A delegation led by Dalal is currently on a study tour in Brazil and this delegation called on the president of Brazilian association of zebu breeders (ABCZ), Rivaldo Machado Borges Jr., at the headquarters of the (ABCZ) in Uberaba.
ABCZ is a Brazilian dairy cattle farmers association of over 22,000 dairy farmers in Uberba, Brazil. During this meeting, modalities to bring good quality of indigenous animal germplasm from Brazil were discussed. Apart from this, in the meeting, information was obtained about various practices and latest techniques being used by the dairy farmers of Brazil in the animal husbandry sector and how this practice and latest information should be conveyed to the farmers of Haryana.
The delegation also visited Alta Genetics' campus in Uberaba, where modalities for export of Murrah germplasm were explored. Alta Genetics expressed their desire that Haryana should supply them quality Murrah germplasm through Haryana livestock development board as they are currently procuring it from Italy. The delegation also visited the semen processing laboratory.
The delegation includes chairman, Haryana livestock development board, Randhir Singh Golan, chairman, Haryana warehouse corporation, Nayan Pal Rawat, chairman, Haryana forest development corporation, Dharampal Gondar, commissioner and secretary, Haryana animal husbandry and dairying department, Pankaj Aggarwal and other officials.
