Tributes are being paid to a man who died after getting into difficulty while swimming in Bray.
Ciaran Megannety tragically died while swimming at Bray Beach early on Sunday morning. Locals were left shocked by Ciaran's sudden passing.
Bray Chamber led tributes to Ciaran, praising him for his involvement in the local community and his “affable nature.” They mentioned in a Facebook post that his efforts for the Bray area had been recognised in their 2015 Endeavour Awards.

They wrote on Facebook: “He was always generous with his time, constantly volunteering to help out at community events and fundraisers. Ciaran loved to chat to people, and he regularly attended events and was a great source of community news.”
Christ Church Bray also took to social media to share their condolences. They extended their sympathies to Megannety’s wider family, describing him as a true gentleman.
They wrote in their tribute: “He was always available with a big smile, and a helping hand and so well-loved in the community of Bray. A friend of all at Christ Church and always at every concert or event we held.”
Another person wrote that he was well-liked in the local area and that they would miss their chats with him on the seafront.
The person commented: “A sad day today in Bray with the tragic loss of local man Ciaran Magennety...Ciaran would have been well know and very well liked, known for his chats and walking dogs.”
