Bravo star says she lost 'too much weight' on controversial weight loss drug

Golnesa Gharachedagh from Bravo's Shahs of Sunset has spoken out about how she has lost more weight than she was anticipating after using the anti-diabetic medication Ozempic.

The reality star, who is known by her fans as GG, has claimed that she shed a whopping 30lbs (two stone) after using the controversial drug.

According to Diabetes UK, Ozempic is a type 2 diabetes medication "which is prescribed to manage blood glucose levels".

The site continues: "It is not a medication for people who do not have diabetes or are at risk of type 2 diabetes."

Due to the effects of the drug, which include reducing your appetite so you eat less and slowing down the movement of food in your gut meaning you stay full for longer, it has fast become a popular way to lose weight among Hollywood stars and celebrities.

Taking to Instagram to talk about using Ozempic and the weight loss she has experienced, GG looked svelte and slender as she donned a white bra and talked to her followers through the camera lens.

Golnesa, 41, said: "When I started the Semaglutide shots (Ozempic), I was 138 pounds. Now I'm about 110 pounds. Now as you can see, I lost a little more weight than I was anticipating to lose."

She added: "On April 30. I got on the scale and saw 111 pounds. That's when I knew it was time to cut back.

"Will I gain it all back? Maybe. For now, I'm enjoying it. I'm enjoying the way I look."

This comes after CBS reported that the long-term impacts of using drugs like Ozempic for weight loss are "unknown".

Dr. Meera Shah, an endocrinologist at the Mayo Clinic, told the outlet that the most common side effects from using the drug are nausea, abdominal pain, constipation and diarrhea.

The outlet also reports that doctors have reported some patients experience malnutrition, with more extreme side effects noted as being gallbladder issues, kidney failure and changes in vision.

GG is best-known for starring in Bravo's Shahs of Sunset, a reality show that follows a group of six Persian-American friends in Los Angeles who try to juggle their active social lives and careers.
