Brave and adorable little kitten trio with only two eyes between them find new home

A litter of kittens with only two eyes between them have found a new loving home in Wigan. The siblings who had to have their eyes removed when they were just eight weeks old have been adopted by a kind-hearted cat lover Su Taylor who has even renamed one of them after the iconic Rnb group TLC.

The trio formerly known as Molly, Dolly and Polly had to have surgery to remove their eyes after vets found an untreated infection that they may have been born with. The trio were brought into the care of Cats Protection’s Atherton & Wigan Branch Vets where an assessment revealed extensive damage, and an eye from both Molly and Polly, and both Dolly’s eyes had to be removed.

Su Taylor, from Hindley in Wigan, happened to be looking for a new cat, having suffered the heartbreak of losing two much-loved pets. She said: “I had just lost Horrie, who was 17, and before that I had Bitty for 20 years, and I was devastated. I hated coming home to silence.”

“I didn’t really have a particular idea of what sort of cat I wanted except for it being an indoor one as I have a busy road outside. I’ve never had a cat with special needs before and I’ll admit I was dubious as I wasn’t sure I’d be able to provide them with what they
needed.

"But Lorna Harris at the Warrington Adoption Centre has a blind cat and offered lots of helpful advice on taking care of them. I have ended up with three beautiful, loving, mad cats who make me smile every day.”

Su has renamed them all with distinctive monikers. She said: “Polly is now Blink and, due to some nasal damage, I now live with someone who snuffles and sounds like she has a really bad cold; she definitely can’t sneak up on anyone! I’ve named Molly TLC,
after the band’s Lisa ‘Left Eye’, and Dolly became Team – as there’s no I in team!”

Despite having no eyes, Team is absolutely fearless and is living her best life, quite often jumping around when a toy isn’t even there.

Branch coordinator and fosterer Diane Leather said: “After a rocky start to life, these three really showed us how resilient kittens can be. With medication and much TLC, they recovered to become lovely, playful girls with their own personalities.

"I was amazed at how Dolly adapted to life with no sight. Once they were strong enough, we transferred them to Warrington Adoption Centre for rehoming. It’s rare that someone would take on three cats and we were concerned how Dolly would manage without at least one of her sisters as she was very close to them.

“So, we were delighted to learn someone had fallen in love with all three and offered them a home where they could stay together; it’s been amazing to hear how well they’ve settled in.”
