Bradley Walsh discussed his relationship with son Barney during an interview on BBC’s The One Show on Tuesday, January 24. The Chase presenter, 62, appeared alone as he chatted to hosts Lauren Laverne and Jermaine Jenas about his and his son's ITV series, Breaking Dad.
Addressing Barney’s absence, Bradley said: “I’m sorry he’s not here and he sends his apologies but he’s actually filming something, drama-wise, and he’s on location.” The 25-year-old recently guest starred in the new series of Death in Paradise. Bradley added that it’s been quite difficult to find a time to work with Barney. “Trying to get him to come on the road with me is a task now,” he said, “It used to be the other way around.”
Opening up about the strong bond he has with his son, Bradley confirmed that working on Breaking Dad has brought them “closer”. He added: “Barney himself has received letters and emails saying that, ‘Through your show, I’ve reconnected with my mum or dad and now we’re going to go on a holiday together.’
“I always say that if we’ve only ever made one person reconnect with their family then we’ve cracked it. What a thing to be able to do.”
Breaking Dad sees the father and son duo travel around the world, exploring the ways in which various cultures live. The series has been running since 2019 and during that time, it has been both a critical and ratings success.
