The Miami Dolphins have a huge problem on their hands.
After an epic collapse to the Tennessee Titans on Monday night — Miami blew a 27-13 lead with less than three minutes to play at home — it’s starting to become apparent that this team might not have the fortitude to make a deep AFC playoff run. We already knew the Dolphins struggled against good teams. They weren’t supposed to struggle to close out the bad ones, either.
According to Miami defensive Bradley Chubb, it happened partly because the Dolphins were getting a little full of themselves with a pregame 9-3 record. Oof. That’s the last thing you want to hear from a team leader on a squad that hasn’t even won a single playoff game.
Dolphins LB Bradley Chubb admitted they saw a lot of potential playoff scenarios coming into game: “When you see a goal in front of you, cruise control is a natural instinct.”
Chubb later admitted in the 4th quarter: “We probably let our foot off the gas a little bit.”

Chubb saying the Dolphins let their foot off the gas is a massive understatement. With a win, Miami would’ve been in cruise control for its first AFC East title since the days of Ronnie Brown and Anthony Fasano. Instead, it opened the door for a potentially heroic (though still unlikely) Bills run back to a fourth straight division championship. Josh Allen is one of the last football players I’d want to give any breathing room to.
And it’s really almost all because the Dolphins looked past an awful team they should’ve pasted from wire to wire.
This was how Twitter reacted to Chubb's admission about the Dolphins' overconfidence
How can you be in cruise control when this man is in your rear view mirror?
You’ll be sorry you ever thought that. #BillsMafia 😤 https://t.co/K8Mh8Kfvp7 pic.twitter.com/CGRJmoRsl3

Cruise control is definitely not a natural instinct when you see a goal in front of you lol https://t.co/wVNDBiqvq7

This is an insane excuse for a team with no playoff success https://t.co/8Eps7dFfSz

I know it's not their intention, but they're throwing their coaches completely under the bus here https://t.co/ERIsFKfq9l
