Gold Coast are celebrating their history-making first NRLW victory after shutting down the Sydney Roosters in Wollongong on Sunday afternoon.

In their first season in the competition, the Titans were dominant from the outset, running for almost 200 more metres and breaking 28 more tackles in a 26-16 triumph.

Teenage debutant Jasmine Peters opened the scoring with a significant solo effort, fighting off Roosters' defenders with pure strength to find the line on four minutes.

A brilliant kick from Grace Griffin found Karina Brown in the corner for her first NRLW try, but Roosters winger Leianne Tufuga benefitted from strong team play to pull it back to 10-6 following an outstanding sideline conversion from Hannah Southwell.

The Titans immediately responded with a bulldozing try from former Rooster Tazmin Gray getting their 10-point advantage back.

And another hard-hitting carry from Brittany Breayley-Nati effectively ended things, scoring under the post for 22-6.

The Roosters wouldn't go away with a power run of their own netting six points with prop Sarah Togatuki crashing over, before Olivia Kernick charged through the Titans' line to bring them within six points with three minutes to play

But a clever solo run from Breayley-Nati sealed seal the Titans' win in the final minute, with her double earning her player-of-the-match honours.

Earlier, superstar Brisbane duo Millie Boyle and Tamika Upton led the Broncos to a 28-10 triumph against Newcastle to go 2-0 for the season.

Boyle particularly continued her hot form, running for another 193m to back up last week's record 223m, and she opened the scoring on 14 minutes by barging through the Knights' line.

Soon after NRLW all-time leading tryscorer Upton was in on the act, combining with Shenae Ciesiolka in a slick one-two that allowed her to cruise through and make it 12-0, while she returned the favour to Ciesiolka with a brilliant assist for 18-0.

Newcastle found some second-half points through Maitua Feterika and Jayme Fressard, who gave her side a chance with a stunning 70m run that saw her break a number of tackles.

But Amy Turner then came up with a stunner of her own, running 40m and shrugging off multiple Knights defenders to ice the game.

Newcastle struggled with ball security throughout the contest, completing just 54 per cent of their sets.
