Boyd and Sutton clash in row over 'good Rangers servant' Goldson

Kris Boyd and Chris Sutton locked horns prior to today's St Mirren vs Rangers clash over the legacy of Connor Goldson at Ibrox.

The former ripped into the English centre-back as he pointed out that for all the plaudits he'd had over the years he's only lifted two trophies.

Ex-Celtic ace Sutton backed Goldson up and said he's been a 'good servant' to Rangers.

But Boyd wasn't having any of it as he highlighted that Sutton regularly criticises James Tavernier over the same subject.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Boyd said: "Tavenier, Connor Goldson, Ben Davies. They disappear. The body language on Thursday..."

Sutton chimed in: "That's harsh on Connor Goldson. He's been a good servant to Rangers."

Boyd responded: "A good servant? He has won two trophies."

Sutton continued: "Out of the three you have named in my opinion that is harsh on Connor Goldson."

Boyd then pointed out: "Wait a minute, you get praise now for being a good servant? James Tavernier has been there for nine (years) and all you do is slaughter him."

Sutton defended his views: "Well, I mean, deservedly so."

Boyd rounded off: "Tavernier, Goldson, Jack, Barisic they all have over 1000 games for Rangers combined. Two trophies. It just doesn't make sense."

Meanwhile, Rangers fans have made their feelings known on the current situation at the club.

On and off the field the Ibrox side are in somewhat of a crisis mode as they search for a permanent replacement for Michael Beale in the dugout.

Last weekend's 3-1 home defeat to Aberdeen was enough to seal the fate of Beale, who was sacked after only 10 months in the job.

Steven Davis, Alex Rae, Stevie Smith, Brian Gilmour and Colin Stewart were appointed as the interim team to take the side in the meantime while James Bisgrove & Co. hunt for a successor in the manager's hot seat.
