Boy, two, seriously injured after being hit by van outside care home

A two-year-old boy has been seriously injured after being hit by a van near a Merthyr Tydfil care home. The collision was reported to police shortly before 10.50am on Wednesday (January 25).

A black Volkswagen Transporter was involved in the incident which happened at Ty Gurnos Newydd, off Spruce Tree Close, Gurnos. South Wales Police say the boy remains in hospital with serious injuries and his family are being supported by specially trained officers.

Officers are appealing with anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage from the vicinity at the time to get in touch.

A spokesman said: "We are appealing for any witnesses who may have been in the vicinity at the time of the collision or can provide information in relation to the movements of the Volkswagen Transporter and the two-year-old child."
