Boy's wonderful tribute to 'hero' dad who died in workplace accident

A boy from the East Midlands is cycling 200 miles from London to Paris for charity in memory of his "hero" dad. Rupert Brooke, seven, will be completing the challenge to honour his dad Tom Brooke, who mum Jess says was "his absolute favourite person in the whole wide world".

Tom sadly passed away in April 2019 after an unexpected workplace accident, when Rupert, from Long Eaton, was just four. Jess said: "He idolised him and he was his hero. He absolutely adored Tom.

"He was four when his dad died and it's devastating at any time but it's a particularly difficult and challenging age for it to happen, as he's old enough to know what it's about but not old enough to fully understand his feelings and the feelings of sadness. It smashed us up to pieces."
