Boy's rare condition means he could suffer brain damage if he eats meat, fish or dairy

Oliver Roberston, aged 11, was born with Phenylketonuria (PKU) - a rare and potentially serious inherited disorder, where eating the wrong foods or not taking his supplements could, over time, leave him brain damaged.

The condition means his body is unable to break down the amino acids from the food that creates protein in our bodies. This can build up in Oliver's brain or in his blood, leading to damage.

Due to this, Oliver has special dietary requirements including avoiding meat, fish, dairy, pulses and can only have small quantities of potatoes and pasta. Eating out is a challenge.
