A young boy has multiple injuries after his mother allegedly "bit, hit and scratched" him in an intoxicated state, police have said.
Neighbours who witnessed the alleged family violence incident on Sunday evening called triple zero.
ACT Policing said, about 7pm on October 6, the 47-year-old mother allegedly had a verbal argument with her son after consuming alcohol.
She then tried to leave the house and entered a car to drive away but was stopped by the boy, police alleged.
An ACT Policing spokeswoman said the child was "concerned about her intoxicated state".
The woman is then accused of assaulting her son during a physical altercation.
The police spokeswoman said witnesses tried to intervene.
"Police arrived a short time later and spoke to the woman and her son," she said.
However, the woman allegedly became increasingly violent which led officers to arrest her.
She was then accused of resisting police, and allegedly throwing a punch and kicking at one officer.
Police eventually arrested the woman and charged her with aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assaulting a front-line community service provider, and trying to resist a public official.
Man charged with choking partner
It was the second time police were called to attend a family violence incident over the weekend. Officers also attended another callout in Tuggeranong on Saturday afternoon.
A woman called triple zero about 4.50pm on October 5 after her partner allegedly assaulted her in front of their child.
The 45-year-old father was allegedly arguing with the couple's child while at their home in Fadden.
Police said when the mother intervened and took the child, the man confronted her by allegedly "choking and slapping" her.
"After the man released his partner, she called police," a police spokeswoman said.
Police arrived a short time later and spoke to alleged victim but the man had left the address by then.
Officers arrested the man later in the evening, in Chisholm, and charged him with common assault and choking another person.
The 45-year-old Fadden man and 47-year-old Belconnen woman will be facing the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday.
"ACT Policing stands ready to assist victims experiencing family violence. If you are in this situation - when it is safe to do so - please contact police on 131 444 or triple zero (000) in an emergency, or contact a support service who can assist with crisis support, safety planning and advice," the police spokeswoman said.
