Boy George signs up for I’m A Celebrity after landing the show’s biggest ever paycheck

Boy George has signed up for the upcoming I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! in the biggest deal ever.

The Culture Club legend star will be heading to the Australian rainforest after singing the shows biggest ever deal to date to take part. The 61-year-old popstar has scooped a reported $1million (£879,000) to go down under as the show returns to Australia for the first time in three years.

"It’s beyond exciting that we’ve secured Boy George," an insider said. "It’s been a long time since we had a huge global star film the show and he will no doubt draw viewers."

"He’s also hugely popular in Australia and with the show leaving Wales and heading back down under, he’s the perfect addition," they told MailOnline. "We know it’s a huge coup to land Boy George and we can’t wait for filming to begin," the source continued.

"He is thriving at the moment, he is about to perform with Culture Club at the legendary Austin City Limits in the coming weeks. He’s a national treasure and we have no doubt viewers will make him king of jungle."

This comes after a previous appearance on Saturday Night Takeaway, George admitted to Ant and Dec that he would love to be apart of the ITV show as long as they catered to his dietary requirements.

During an appearance on Saturday Night Takeaway earlier this year, George actually told Ant and Dec that he would love to take part in I’m A Celebrity – as long as the show could cater to his dietary requirements. "Unless you do a vegan version and then I’m in," he told them.

A telly source told The Sun: “Boy George is a real coup for producers, there is a lot of excitement in-house at ITV. The singer is renowned for his dry wit and frank delivery, he is always outspoken and will be hilarious value in camp."

Ant and Dec have also been filming a special All Star edition of I’m A Celebrity in South Africa with the likes of Carol Vorderman, Gillian McKeith, Joe Swash and Helen Flanagan all taking part.

I’m A Celebrity returns to ITV in November.
