Boy dies after being hit by motorcycle

AHMEDABAD: A 12-year-old boy, out to get groceries on his bicycle, died after being hit by a motorcycle in Nava Vadaj on Sunday. The boy was identified as Ravi Chauhan, a resident of Jawaharnagar. His father, Ashok said, “My son had gone out to buy groceries when the accident took place.”

The 32-year-old, who works as a gardener in a residential society, said that the motorcycle rider was speeding when he hit Ravi’s cycle, flinging the child into the air. As the child dashed onto the road, the accused abandoned his motorcycle and fled the spot.

Locals gathered around the child and took him to a nearby private hospital. From there, he was shifted to Sola Civil hospital where he was declared brought dead.

B division traffic police registered a case of negligent driving causing death under IPC along with charges of the motor vehicle act and began an investigation into the case.
