A boy who allegedly spat at, kicked, and bit a police officer has been arrested. This followed a suspected 'high value' theft from the Trafford Centre Selfridges store.
Another boy thought to be connected to this incident was also arrested and found to be in possession of a knife, police said. Officers were at the Trafford Centre as part of Operation Sceptre, a national campaign against knife crime.
The boy, who's age is not disclosed, was detained by officers as they had committed a 'high value theft' from the Selfridges store in the Trafford Centre, police said. During his arrest the boy spat at one officer, before kicking and biting another.

This required the officer to be taken for hospital treatment. The boy was arrested on suspicion of theft and assaulting two emergency workers.
A GMP Trafford North statement said: "Earlier today Trafford West Neighbourhood officers were deployed at the Trafford Centre as part of our #OPSceptre deployments to prevent knife crime and personal robberies. Whilst patrolling the area officers detained a male juvenile who had committed a high value theft from Selfridges.
"During his arrest the male spat at an officer, kicked and bit another officer leading to one of the officers requiring hospital treatment. This male is now under arrest on suspicion of theft and assaulting an emergency services worker x2.
"Another male juvenile believed to be connected to the offence was also arrested for theft and found to be in possession of a knife. Both males await questioning in Police custody."
