Boy, 6, who died in Offaly swimming pool accident remembered as 'beautiful' and 'full of fun'

Funeral details have been announced for a six-year-old boy who died in a tragic swimming pool accident in Co Offaly on Sunday.

Oliver Forde, who is described as an "amazing" and "beautiful" boy "full of fun", sadly died after getting into difficulty in the pool at the Tullamore Court Hotel.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, and Oliver was taken to Midlands Regional Hospital before being transferred to Crumlin Children's Hospital. He later passed away.

Oliver will be reposing at Fanagan's Funeral Home, Lower Kimmage Road, on Thursday from 2pm to 6pm before removal for Mass in St Agnes' Church, Crumlin, at 10.30am on Friday, followed by cremation at Mount Jerome Crematorium.

A funeral notice on rip.ie reads: "Beloved son of Denis and Nina and loving brother of Jack and Lucas. Sadly missed by his heartbroken parents, brothers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, extended family, friends and neighbours.

"Reposing at Fanagans Funeral Home, Lwr. Kimmage Road on Thursday from 2.00 pm. until 6.00 pm. Funeral Mass on Friday at 10.30 am. in St. Agnes' Church, Crumlin followed by Cremation at Mount Jerome Crematorium. The Mass may be viewed on www.crumlinparish.ie. Family flowers only, please. Donations, if desired, to Crumlin Children's Hospital."

Heartbreaking tributes have been paid to the young boy as people offered up their sympathies to the family.

One person wrote: "Oliver was such a beautiful, funny and amazing little boy in more ways than I can count. I am deeply sorry for your loss. Sending all my love at this heartbreaking time."

A second wrote: "Nina and all the family, we're so sorry for the loss of your beautiful boy, Oliver. You're in our thoughts all the time. Sending you loads of love."

And a third added: "My deepest condolences to Denis and Nina on the loss of Oliver, Oliver was such a lovely little boy and always full of fun, He lit up the office every time Denis brought the boys in for a visit."

Gardai are treating the death as a tragic accident.

A Garda spokesperson said: "The child was taken to Children's Health Ireland at Crumlin where they later passed."

They also confirmed that a file would be prepared for the Coroner's Court.

A spokesperson for the Health and Safety Authority said it is aware of this incident and said all the necessary enquiries were being made.

The Tullamore Court Hotel also released a statement it read: "We offer our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones at this difficult time.

"The thoughts of all our team are with them. We would ask everyone to please respect their privacy.

"We have no further comment at present."
