Boy, 4, mauled by bulldog in terrifying attack in front of family

A four-year-old boy was rushed to hospital after being attacked by a dog in front of his family. The youngster was mauled as he rode his scooter near a canal towpath in Ancoats.

Police are appealing for the dog owner to come forward following the attack around 4pm on Danesdale Drive as the family were heading towards the Rochdale Canal tow path.

The dog, a Bulldog type, which was off the lead, mauled the young boy, causing leg injuries that needed hospital treatment on December 14. The owner of the dog initially stopped, police say, but then walked off in the direction of Rodney Street and Steven Hunt Street with the dog still off its lead, and another small black bulldog that was on its lead.
