A “beautiful boy” diagnosed with a rare cancer when his parents realised he was putting on weight has died at the age of three.
Morgan Ridler’s parents Natalie and Matthew were alarmed in April 2021 when they noticed his build did not match his eating and exercise habits and he was becoming lethargic.
Doctors initially dismissed the changes as him “growing out to grow up” before the family was eventually referred to a consultant.
Scans found Morgan’s liver was enlarged and a week later discovered a 14cm tumour.
The cancer eventually spread to his lungs and despite several operations and treatment he was moved to palliative care.
This morning his parents confirmed he passed away, surrounded by his loved ones, WalesOnline reported.
In the Facebook post, they wrote: "Our beautiful boy started on his next great adventure at approximately 5.30am this morning.
“He was peaceful and comfortable with his family around him. Although it was faster than we could ever have anticipated, Morgan was in control at the very end, knowing he was safe and we were with him.
"No more pain now, you fought so hard for so long, you always smiled regardless, you always laughed, you always loved.
“Although I wish this never happened to us I know we are better people for having known and loved you. You’ve taught us to be more and love more.
"In us you have inspired more love than I ever thought possible, you’ve created power for good and we are so grateful for you.
"Our Morgs. Our Squishy".
Last week, hundreds of people had lined the streets to give Morgan an unforgettable day which included a drive-by from dozens of supercars including a Mercedes F1 car.
Morgan also got a chance to ride for the first time in a plane with his parents
On Sunday hundreds of vehicles from Harleys and vintage Vespas to supercars, lorries, classic motors and fire engines took part in a parade past his home.
