A 17-year-old boy has been jailed for the murder of a man he stabbed to death because he wrongly believed the victim had arranged to meet a teenage girl. Joshua Boardman attacked Hiwa Ali-Khani, 27, as he sat in his car on July 8 .
A court heard Boardman thought Mr Ali-Khani had been messaging a teenage female friend of his. But in fact it was another man, Stuart Thornton, who had been messaging the girl - and he was parked behind Mr Ali-Khani until 40 seconds before Boardman arrived.
Mr Thornton even rushed to the aid of Mr Ali-Khani after he'd been stabbed, unaware that he was the intended target of the attack. Boardman, who previously pleaded guilty to murder, was today (Wednesday) jailed for life and told he must serve a minimum of 14 years in prison.
