Yet more blood has been shed in a week of violence across Greater Manchester which saw the heartbreaking loss of a teenage boy. Kyle Hackland was just 17-years-old when he was stabbed on Southlea Road, in Withington, last Tuesday morning (November 22).
He was rushed to hospital but later died of his injuries. It was yet another episode of knife crime sending a shockwave across Manchester - and yet another family grieving the loss of a life cruelly taken far too soon.
But it was just the first stabbing to take place that day. A man was left fighting for his life after being stabbed in a 'disturbance' on Harlech Avenue, Whitefield, at around 5pm.
And today, in the early hours of the morning, another teenager became the latest victim of knife crime. The 15-year-old boy suffered serious injuries after being stabbed in a robbery on Darnley Street, Old Trafford, at around 3am.
Greater Manchester Police is again spending its time dealing with the culprits of knife crime. Four teenagers have been arrested so far in connection with Kyle Hackland's death.
In a tribute issued last Wednesday, his grieving family said: "We are devastated by the death of our beloved Kyle. He was such a kind and well-mannered young boy who always looked out for his family - never failing to say 'love youl as he walked out the door.
“There are no words that can even begin to describe the pain we feel. We have always been such a close family, and this has shattered us all.
"He will forever be missed as a beautiful son as well as a caring and helpful big brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. Life will never be the same without him, we are completely broken."
Meanwhile, police have arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of robbery following the Old Trafford incident, with officers continuing their enquiries. GMP is yet to make an arrest following the Whitefield incident.
Police are appealing for information in connection with the incident in Old Trafford this morning. Detective Sergeant John Seaton, from Trafford CID, said: “This is a vicious attack on a young man in the early hours of this morning and following extensive work in a short time period we are now in a position to appeal to the public to ask if they saw anything suspicious around the Old Trafford area at the time of the incident, or indeed if they saw what happened.
"We are exploring all lines of enquiry and have already made an arrest in connection with this incident. We have increased our patrols in the area to offer visible reassurance and also encourage anyone to speak to our officers in person as they are there to help you if you have any concerns.”
Anyone with information about that attack is asked to call 0161 856 7863, quoting incident number 470 of November 27, 2022. Alternatively, details can be passed on via the LiveChat function at gmp.police.uk or 101.
Details can also be passed on anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
