I know 007: First Light developer IO Interactive has been trying to distance itself from all of those Uncharted comparisons, but man, the game's new trailer really isn't doing it any favors in that regard. This thing looks like Uncharted, but with Hitman-style stealth, which sounds like a bangin' pitch to be fair.
Debuted during today's PlayStation State of Play, 007: First Light's new trailer shows Nathan Drake - I mean, James Bond - hang from perilous cliffs, jump from exploding vehicles, beat the crap out of people, and charm the heck out of everyone while doing it. You know, like Nathan Drake does. We've already heard the developers say they're "leaning into" what IO does best, and this being a James Bond game, it's fair to say there will be stealth. So, basically, Uncharted action and cinematics combined with Hitman stealth? Count me the heck in.
Here's the new trailer:
This being a story trailer, I feel some responsibility to tell you what's going on in this game. You play as a young secret agent out on his first mission to prove himself and earn his 00 status in an origin story that sees Bond tangling with dangerous criminals like main antagonist Bawma the pirate, played by none other than Lenny Kravitz.
The trailer shows Bond getting into all sorts of trouble in Iceland, narrowly escaping death on multiple occasions but catching the eyes of a former 00 agent and training instructor for the program, who takes the young Bong under his wing as they team up against the rogue British operative 009. Naturally, you're whisked off to some of the most dangerous places in the world, and you'll have to rely on more than Nate Drake's - ugh, I mean James Bond's - charm to survive.
The game is out May 27 on PS5, Xbox Series X, PC, and Switch 2.
