Boxing fans convinced Tyson Fury's "game-changing" opponent is Francis Ngannou

Boxing fans believe Tyson Fury will face Francis Ngannou in a crossover fight after his undisputed clash against Oleksandr Usyk fell through again.

Fury was in talks to face fellow heavyweight champion Usyk at the end of the year in Saudi Arabia after their fight for late April collapsed. The undisputed clash has now been delayed again as Fury's promoter Frank Warren has given January of next year as a rescheduled date for the fight.

Whilst discussing a potential crossover fight against Ngannou or UFC champion Jon Jones, Warren teased that Fury's next fight will be a game-changer. "Yeah, he's up for that," he told talkSPORT. "The type of money something like that could generate - why wait for people saying, 'Wait until next year,' when you can make these fights now. Why wouldn't you do that now?"

Fans are now convinced that Ngannou will be Fury's next opponent as one comment read: "In the absence of Joshua and Usyk, the only potential opponent that would qualify as a game-changer is Francis Ngannou? Those are Fury’s three most lucrative fights; AJ, Usyk and Ngannou. Another user agreed by replying: "Fury vs Ngannou at Old Trafford."

One user criticised the potential crossover fight by adding: "If Fury fights Ngannou after turning down the Usyk fight I don't want to hear anyone saying he doesn't fight for money. Fighting for money over legacy isn't a bad thing but just be honest about it." A second user added: "Francis is an MMA fighter not a boxer. It’s a joke fight."

Fury faced off with Ngannou after he knocked out Dillian Whyte to defend his WBC title last April. Ngannou was unable to secure a fight with 'The Gypsy King' at the time as the former UFC heavyweight champion was still under contract with the organisation, but he has since signed with rival promotion PFL and can now compete in the boxing ring if he wants.

Ngannou recently admitted to being "confused" about his fight negotiations with Fury as he told Mirror Fighting : "It's always what I wanted but apparently Tyson Fury 's pretty good at bouncing here and there, I don't know exactly. I am here and I want to fight, whenever he really wants it I'm here. It's been like three years that we've been going back-and-forth on social media so I would be very happy to have the fight. I have seen a lot of comments from Tyson Fury at this point of things I'm a little confused!"
