Championship high flyers Bournemouth are lining up Reading's Andy Carroll in an effort to boost their promotion push.
The Cherries emerged as admirers of Cardiff City's Kieffer Moore earlier in the transfer window.
Moore is currently on the sidelines with an ankle injury, missing the 3-2 defeat to Bristol City on Saturday.
Wolves were keen on the Wales international last summer after his stellar exploits in a Bluebirds shirt last season, while Burnley have been mentioned in dispatches this month.
Scott Parker's south coast club have been put off by Moore's price tag, and have instead switched attentions to former Liverpool and Newcastle United striker Carroll, who was on a short-term deal with the Royals.
That contract has now elapsed, report the Sun, and the 33-year-old is a target for the promotion-chasing side.
That's good news for the Bluebirds, with boss Steve Morison batting away interest in the frontman when asked about his future earlier this month.

"Ultimately, every window it is a conversation," Morison said 10 days ago. "It’s just something that’s made up in the press, because until someone gives us an actual phone call, it feels like a bit of a pointless conversation.
"We keep having the same conversation and nothing ever changes. As far as I’m concerned, Kieffer hasn’t knocked on my door or an agent hasn’t phoned me up, or the board.
"Chris Wood signs for Newcastle and everyone will be telling me he is going to Burnley tomorrow.
"Someone puts it on social media and it causes an unnecessary storm."
In better striker news, Max Watters came off the bench at Ashton Gate to register his first goal for the club.
"We brought Max back, he scores a goal because that’s just what he can do," the manager said of Watters.
"He scores a goal, he didn’t do a lot else around it, but he scored a goal. Strikers don’t care!"
Another forward, James Collins, grabbed the opener against the Robins and to see his strikers find the back of the net will offer Morison a crumb of comfort despite the defeat.
Ryan Giles, who headed back to Wolves after being recalled by his parent club, remains of interest to the Bluebirds this month and his pace and creativity would be warmly welcomed again in the Welsh capital.
The youngster was an unused substitute in Wolves' 2-1 win over Brentford on Saturday, meaning he is still able to head out on loan.
