If you thought the summer of Wicked couldn’t get any better, think again. It seems our girl Glinda might be serving more than just bubbles and bangers – she could be dishing out some serious sapphic vibes too!
In a recent interview with The Gay Times, Ariana Grande and her Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo spilled the tea on the queer vibes in the Emerald City (which die-hard Wicked fans have already been knowing about, let’s be so real).
Ari, who’s stepping into Glinda’s sparkly shoes for the film adaptation, reckons the Emerald City is basically Pride on steroids. “Every day in the Emerald City is a Pride parade, right?” she quipped.
“Even the chickens… those chickens are gay.” It’s the chicken representation we didn’t know we needed!
Ari continued to dive into it and dubbed Peter Dinklage‘s Dr. Dillamond, a “gay icon” in his Bode cardigan and custom tea device.
“Let’s just talk for a minute about him and his custom tea device as well. With his tea and his cardigan, I’m just throwing it out there!” she said. Serving looks and brews? I mean could it be any more obvious?!!
Now, let’s address the Gelphie in the room. When asked about the popular fan theory aka the possibility of a Glinda-Elphaba romance, Cynthia kept it cool, praising their “unbreakable bond”.
It was Ari who really said ‘ALLY’! She hinted that Glinda might be “a little in the closet” but given more time, who knows? “Give it a little more time,” she teased. Where is the lie?
If you are still doubting the theory, literally don’t because the OG Glinda herself, Kristin Chenoweth, entered the chat. When E! News shared Ari’s comments on Insta, Kristin dropped this bombshell in the comments: “I thought so too way back when…”
Excuse us while we pick our jaws up off the yellow brick road!
So there you have it, folks. It seems Glinda might be more interested in defying gravity with Elphaba than settling down with Fiyero. And I am here for it!!!
