The NBA is a business, and last season, the business side of the sport was unkind to reserve guard Payton Pritchard’s playing opportunities. And while the Oregon alum may still be working through losing teammates to trade, the same business side of the league has set Pritchard up with new opportunities for floor time — and new teammates to facilitate it.
Speaking in an interview with the “Our Bleepin’ City” podcast, the West Linn native shared that while he has been back in Boston for about a month now, he has yet to meet new Boston big man Kristaps Porzingis. “He comes in this week, so I’m looking forward to meeting him,” said Pritchard.
Buy Celtics TicketsHe has had a chance to work with new assistant coaches Charles Lee and Sam Cassell, however., and is itching to put in more work ahead of the 2023-24 season. “I’m definitely excited,” he explained. “I do my work, I’m always ready, so I’ve been ready for (a bigger role) for a long time now.”

Noting that the goal this season is title or bust, Pritchard added that “a win, especially for the city of Boston, would be very special. But winning a championship in general is special, so if we can be the team to do it and get over that hump, that would be amazing.”
