When an NBA player misses a game for personal reasons, even ones as momentous as the birth of a child, fans can often take the development in an unhealthy manner, acting as though they were being deprived of something owed to them.
If said player has interests beyond basketball off the court, a similar reaction among fans is not uncommon.
But, as an outspoken critic of such points of view and a player with a well-known busy schedule away from the sport he plays for a living, star Boston Celtics wing Jaylen Brown wants you to know NBA players are more than just athletes and entertainers.
Speaking with teammates Jayson Tatum and Marcus Smart on the Showtime Basketball “KG Certified” podcast hosted by two former Boston stars, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, Brown explored the importance of balancing basketball and off-the-court goals.
